Gallery is an Android app that allows users to view photos and videos stored on their mobile devices. Gallery aims to provide increased functionality over similar stock apps that generally come pre-installed on mobile phones and tablets. There is also an included editing tool that allows you to make minor changes to your media files without needing any third party apps.

Even though the goal of the Gallery app is to improve on stock photo-viewing apps that are generally included in the Android OS, there isn't much improvement to actually be seen in comparison. It offers much of the same features as stock Gallery-like apps, and it includes lots of intrusive in-app advertising. For some, this could be considered a deal-breaker.

The photo editing feature is worth noting because it offers some handy tools such as resizing, cropping, and sketching. You'll also likely enjoy the sticker and filter features that allow you to add character to your photos. The editing tools are easy to use and exporting your finished photos is as easy as tapping a button.

Reliable Photo/Video Viewing and Editing

While Gallery isn't exactly the most feature-rich photo viewer on the scene, it's still a solid choice for anyone needing an app that simply reads and displays photo and video files. Gallery not only includes an editing feature for making finalized touches on the go, but it also allows users to create photo albums and animated galleries. There is limited support for video editing, but the features are decent enough to warrant using it.

Two of the most impressive features offered by Gallery are its Photo Vault and Gallery Locking tools. These tools allow you to secure and hide photos that you might not want other people seeing if they happen to be sifting through your photo gallery.

As stated, the ads can be a little excessive in number at times. The app offers a Pro version that promises to remove ads at a price, among other things. The Pro offering was not explored at the time of app testing.

A Photo Gallery Worth Trying

Overall, Gallery is a solid app, but most users won't see any real value in it over similar apps that offer similar features. Both the photo locking and editing features are actually quite convenient and tend to come in handy from time to time. Keep in mind that due to Gallery's free cost, it is supported by in-app advertising which many users will find irritating.
